Cape Annie's Announces BIG Harbour Lights News
. . . . . . . .Overshadowing the highly-anticipated June 6th announcement of the latest set of new releases, Cape Annie's Lighthouse has some BIGGER news for its own Harbour Lights customers. A summer-long celebration of our new store opening will culminate in the raffling off of TWO Harbour Lights Artists' Proofs; Piney Point, MD and Mobile Point, AL. Two Official Collectors Guide books will also be raffled off. These Artists Proofs will be pictured on our web site, and will also be on display in our store. Everyone will be allowed ONE FREE ENTRY, either at our store, or by e-mail. If you enter by e-mail, we will accept ONLY ONE NAME per e-mail address. Addtional entries will be submitted to the raffle box for EVERY LARGE Harbour Lights piece that you purchase between now and the drawing. In order to maintain impartiality in the drawing, we will ask Bill Younger to select the winners at our September 23rd In-Store Event. This drawing will be separate from the normal "gold piece" raffle, and unlike the normal in-store raffle, you do NOT need to be present to win these Artists Proofs.

. . . . . . . .Because of the heavy demand we receive each year for a Chatham "Little Light of Mine" by Harbour Lights, we will be doing a Cape Annie's EXCLUSIVE; a limited edition of 300 numbered pieces. It will be available ONLY through Cape Annie's, and will feature our own logo stamp on the bottom of each piece. The lantern room on this "Little Light" will be the current "larger" version, as opposed to the older version that appears on the Chatham GLOW. As a bonus, we will be inserting small cards into each "Little Light" box, highlighting the history of Chatham Lighthouse. These cards will be numbered to match the number of the piece. At this time, we do not have an artist proof, or even artist's sketch of the proposed piece, so we do not have a retail price yet (hoping for $21.95). Until we have a set price, all reservations must be done by e-mail. We hope to have this piece by early-to-mid fall.

. . . . . . . .The smaller edition sizes seemed to have helped spur sales of the spring Harbour Lights releases. The two biggest new release sellers have been Point Bonita, CA and Grand Island East Channel, MI, most likely because of their 1,500 edition sizes. A mid-term surprise announcement of new releases from Harbour Lights included The Old North Church, MA, a guest artist piece from David Winter entitled "Barking Rocks," and a new design of Christmas ornaments. Also announced were the new Collectors Society pieces, Newcastle, DE Front and Rear Range Lights. The Old North Church has a LIGHT-UP feature, where you can select "One If By Land" or "Two If By Sea." For those of you not familiar with David Winter, he is the founder of the whimsical David Winter Cottages, which is where Bill Younger got his start. Although it is not a real lighthouse, "Barking Rocks" is a tribute to everything that Bill Younger has accomplished, both with David Winter and as founder of Harbour Lights. Harbour Lights will still have their normal June announcement for their new summer releases.

. . . . . . . .On September 23rd, Bill Younger will be at our NEW store location for our 4th Annual In-Store Signing Event. The special signing event piece is Detroit River Bar (only $45). It appears that this is an
attempt to return to the "old" days of the
signing events, when these special pieces were smaller and more affordable.
This should make it easier for more people to have a chance at the gold.
Although non-attendees will not be able to "win the gold," we will try
to grab a thumbnail for everyone who reserves this piece to be "signed
and shipped." We have recently picked up a large supply of
Harbour Lights Retired Pieces
(from the past 2-3 years), which can now be
reserved at any time for the signing event. We mentioned this earlier
in the year, and we'd like to remind everyone that you never know when
Bill & Nancy will officially retire from their event schedule. This
could be your last chance to have your favorite pieces signed by Bill.
As always, you are welcome to bring pieces from home for Bill to sign.

. . . . . . . .On April 27th, Cape Annie's Lighthouse opened its doors at 807 Route 28 in South Yarmouth, with the official Grand Opening celebration on May 23rd, 24th and 25th. (May 23rd marked the 6th anniversary of Cape Annie's opening at the East Sandwich location.) Visitors to our new store on those days entered our huge raffle and enjoyed free pizza for lunch. The new location is 50% larger than our old store, and we'll be busy getting it ready for the summer season. Check the newsletter heading at the top to see our new address, new phone number, new fax number, and a new web site address that will take you directly to our shopping area. Our in-store hours are 10 AM to 6 PM, and closed on Tuesdays. When summer arrives, we will be open 7 days, including Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights till 9 PM.

. . . . . . . .Since 2001, the Sandy Neck Lighthouse Restoration Committee had been working diligently
to install a new
lantern room on a tower that had been extinguished in the 1930's. In
mid-April, the truck
arrived with the pieces, ready to be installed by
the volunteer group. After piecing together a few of the triangular roof
sections, it was obvious that the measurements were slightly off. The
foundry that cast the pieces has admitted that the error was their
fault, and would be willing to recast all of the lantern room pieces,
at their expense. This would mean a delay of at least 6-8 weeks before
another installation could be attempted. The committee decided to make the
adjustments themselves, and are now ready to give it another go, which could
happen any day now.
The next time you visit Barnstable Harbor, you may be seeing the newly-
installed lantern room.

The jeweler who produce the original Wave Bracelets in sterling silver and vermeil, could not offer us a good price for solid 14K gold. For those of you loved our Sandy Neck Light T-shirts, we will be adding the next edition, a "Chatham Light" shirt, featuring the fictitious "Stage Harbor Brewing Company." Many of our T-shirts and sweatshirts were designed by us, so you won't find them anywhere else. We've decided NOT to compete with all the "bargain" T-shirts shops on Cape Cod. We have found a local Cape Cod screenprinter who produces the best quality T's and sweats in the USA, and we offer them a great prices! . . . . A reminder that we will be opening 7 days a week, beginning in late June, and lasting through at least Labor Day. During that time, we will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights until 9PM. If nights are busy, we will probably expand it to all 7 nights. If the summer is busy, we may remain open 7 days through Columbus Day weekend.
