New Product Arrives Early At Cape Annie's Lighthouse
. . . . . . . .Cape Annie's Lighthouse is entering its first full season at its new South Yarmouth location. Although the next few months can be fairly quiet here on Cape Cod, we have already received 40 cases of
new product for the upcoming season! Each year,
we bring in hundreds of new items, from over 500 wholesalers, with most of it arriving from mid-April to mid-July. We are especially excited about several new items that will be sold ONLY here, at
Cape Annie's Lighthouse. Our 3rd Annual "Turtle Corner" mascot will again be a very small "limited"
edition of a stuffed animal turtle in our custom embroidered Cape Annie's "hoodie." This year his
name will be "Tommy." The first edition, "Andy," has sold out, but there are still a few of 2007's "Emma"
available. A Cape Annie's "Turtle Corner" mug is also being planned for this summer!
. . . . . Our new logo T-shirt has been designed for 2008 (pictured to the right), with BEVERLY HILLS and RIO
DE JANEIRO being this year's fictitious locations. It all started with our in-store shopping bags
and has been a bit hit ever since. We still have a few of
our 2007 Logo T-Shirts remaining.
. . . . . . . .You can now enjoy your Cape Cod vacation 365 days a year, from your desk or work station! This is a item which is being shown at the upcoming Cape Cod Gift Show (a show for all local retailers),
but we have been given a special preview. It is MADE ON CAPE COD and is
customized for EVERY customer, whether you live or own a second home here, or just like to visit.
The sign pickets are always the same, except for the bottom one, "REALITY - 867 miles." This is the
distance you are from Cape Cod, which you can provide, or we can have Rand McNally do it.
Keep "desktop vacation" in your work space 365 days a year, or put it there when
you're counting down the days to your next Cape Cod vacation! "Desktop" vacation will make you
feel like you are here, and "reality" is miles away! The base is filled with sand and shells/stones from
local Cape Cod beaches. You can even choose which beach! The sand/shells/stones will
actually come from favorite beaches like Sandy Neck, Craigville, West Dennis, Nauset, Cahoon Hollow,
Race Point and many more. These should be available in our store, and online, before May 1st. If you're
coming to the Cape, order one ahead of time. We'll have it customized for you and ready for your arrival. AND,
it doesn't have to be a "Cape Cod" Desktop Vacation. We can fill in the mileage to YOUR favorite
vacation spot (as long as you don't mind that the sand and shells are from Cape Cod!)
. . . . . . . .This May will mark the 15th Annual Maritime Days celebration here on Cape Cod. Many of the area's lighthouses are open for climbing during the festivities. For a full schedule of events, you can check out the Maritime Days web site. . . . . . The 1st Annual Martha's Vineyard Lighthouse Challenge will be held June 13th, 14th and 15th, with at least 4 of 5 lighthouses open for touring. Hopefully, West Chop will join in so that all 5 lighthouses will take part. Check the Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce web site for more info, as the the event gets closer. This challenge, along with two new challenges in Maine, are just mini-versions of some of the more famous lighthouse challenges that take place in the Northeast. . . . . . . . .In late 2007, we received our exclusive Chatham "Little Light" from Harbour Lights. Only 300 pieces were available, with each piece being numbered and stamped on the bottom with our "special" Cape Annie's logo stamp. Only about 70 pieces remain, sure to sell out during our busy summer months (i.e. order one now before it's too late!). Our raffle for piece #1 raised several hundred dollars, which we immediately sent to the Sandy Neck Light Restoration Committee. Congratulations to Bob Taylor of Pittsfield, MA, who won piece #1. . . . . PLEASE NOTE: - Don't be fooled by the Chatham "Little Light" that shows up in the Lighthouse Depot catalog/website. This is a generic version that does NOT have our logo stamp, and is NOT a numbered, "limited edition" piece. We were supposed to have a year to sell our "exclusive" version before the generic piece was introduced to other retailers, but they jumped the gun a bit. In our Chatham "Little Light" boxes, we have also inserted a short history card of Chatham Lighthouse, which is also imprinted with the number of that piece. Details. Order.
. . . . . . . .The latest Harbour Lights brochure has been titled: Harbour Lights - The Grand Tour. What does this mean? . . . Since 1991, Harbour Lights has released a replica in 29 of the contiguous United States. In 2008, they will revisit each of these 29 states with a new replica. It could be a Limited Edition, a Little Light, a Regional or Store Event Piece, a GLOW (Open Edition), a Collector's Society Piece or an Anchor Bay ship! The following states remain a mystery: California, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Maine. Try to guess which new lighthouses will be produced for these states. Then, compare your guesses to the new releases that are announced later this year! When you're guessing, remember that some of these pieces could be "GLOWS" or "LITTLE LIGHTS," so they will have been done previously as a "LIMITED EDITION."

The picture shows both sides of this card, which is inserted in with the Harbour Lights authenticity paperwork. These cards are proof that you purchased this piece from a "certified" Harbour Lights dealer AT ISSUE PRICE. Harbour Lights dealers who sell their pieces on EBay, offer multiple purchase discounts, or "special of the month" discounts are NOT "certified" dealers because they are violating their agreement with Harbour Lights to "NEVER discount the Harbour Lights product line." Information on these cards include: Issue Date, Issue Price, Piece # and Edition Size, a line for your name and purchase date, and our authorized signature. The photo of the piece is OUR photo that appears on our web site. If you were to ever sell this piece, you would have proof that you paid the issued price for it. . . . . . . . .Our current store hours for the early spring are 10 AM - 5 PM, and closed on Tuesdays. Please note that in March/April, we do attend new product shows throughout New England and may be closed an occasional Sunday or Monday. Upcoming SUN/MON show dates are March 16th/17th and April 6th/7th, so please call ahead (508-398-9790) if you are headed our way on those dates. Beginning in April,
the longer daylight hours mean we will probably
be extending our hours till 6:00 PM . . . . . . FAMILY WEDDING - May 24th, 2008 - This is the Saturday
of Memorial Day Weekend. If the weather is nice (meaning most visitors will be beaching it instead
of shopping), we will be closed that day. If the weather is cloudy or rainy, Ann & Andy will head
to the wedding, and the store will be open, with Jim running the show . . . . . . On our usual trip
south in January, we headed straight to Atlanta, for the new product show. Since they don't allow small
children at the show, Jim got to work for 3 days, while Ann & Andy visited the Atlanta Zoo, the
Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola.
